Psychoanalyst

I am a Jungian analyst in private practice in Newcastle upon Tyne.

I am particularly interested in individuation, dreams, the creative imagination, and finding meaning in later life. My background gives me an ability to work with those concerned about illness, death and loss.

My training in psychoanalysis took place at the C. G. Jung Institute in Zürich, where I am certified as a Diplomate Analyst. I have worked with people who want to make sense of crises and life changes, especially in the second half of life; with queer people, writers, and artists; and with people who are questioning existential direction and meaning.

I’m an American who has lived and worked on four continents. I am also a long-term person with HIV, and have worked with a number of HIV/AIDS groups and activities for more than forty years. I now live in Newcastle upon Tyne in northern England, but I’ve worked online with people from several countries.

I have a PhD in music from UCLA and taught music, philosophy and culture at several universities over three decades. Since 2020 I have combined these backgrounds to teach live and online seminars for the C. G. Jung Institute in Zürich (https://junginstitut.ch/en/), the Centre of Applied Jungian Studies (https://appliedjung.com), and other Jungian institutes across the world. I was a co-founder of the Psychosocial Wednesdays online seminar series (@psychosocialwednesdays1944) and co-hosted its first three years.
